Aims and Ideals

  • To promote all people a sound knowledge of Kyokushin Karate

  • To show that, through self-discipline and effort, every human being has the capacity to improve physically, mentally and spiritually.

  • To point out the perfect harmony between traditional training methods of Karate-do as adopted and discovered by the founder, Mas Oyama, and the continuing discoveries of modern science, and to show that these principles upon which our training is based are eternally sound.

  • To reveal that the only secret of the martial arts is in the sweat poured into regular training which brings the joy of calm and steady growth and improvement.

  • To help people understand that training in Karate-do first and foremost promotes a healthy body, healthy mind and healthy spirit, and in this way helps all to be better persons able to contribute more fully to society.

  • To foster a spirit of universal brotherhood by teaching that all are one through the participation in the discipline of training next to men, women and children of all ages, races, religions, persuasions.

  • To demonstrate, through self-discovery in training, that the spirit is greater than the mind, the mind greater than the body; that a man can achieve anything if he is pure of intention and strong in will.

  • To contribute to society by overcoming brutality and violence with the humble strength and quiet confidence which comes from hard training; to touch the hearts of all with the sincerity of our endeavours and the peace borne of a fulfilling and balanced lifestyle.

  • To bring all the best that Karate-do has to offer and in this way maintain an honest attitude in training.

  • To declare by our own example that the art of Karate-do is not just a superficial technique of violent physical confrontation, but in fact a valid philosophy of life based on Truth; a lifestyle which is both fulfilling and inspiring to its participants.
